I don't write journals. What?

Slept late this morning, I need to replace my mattress with a hunk of rock or something. It's far too comfortable, compounding my difficulties in waking up. I'm slowly getting sick, too, I think.. I've had a bit of a cough this week and this morning it was accompanied by pain. Maybe it's this precipitous drop in temperature, a rude segue into October.

Same old at work. It's like sleepwalking, as I don't have any conscious thought processes, just grinding through motions.

Network Theory is making my brain melt. But at least it's a cool subject, I'm actually enjoying Data Link Control stuff.. save for the probability exercises. Psychology is where I do the newspaper crossword, I guess that really says it all.

I rocked out in a scrim with :ss: tonight. Looks like I've still got what it takes. Something keeps bringing me back to CS, there's just nothing else like competitive CS, for bad or worse. I'm still a Q3 man at heart though.

I didn't even realise it, but vacation starts on Tuesday.. and I'm out of school til next Monday! Sweet. Hadn't even though about it, until someone mentioned it while discussing their vacation plans!

Of course, you realise this means I'll just stay here and keep going to work. ;D

I should be studying my face off for the Network exam I have after break, but instead I'm just bumming around the house. At least the AC got fixed, it was like sleeping in a brick oven last night. I played the match like that too, not that it mattered. They were in a different league, in one regard or another, than us.

Anyhow, new tabulas colors. I dorked around with the stylesheets and fonts, maybe it looks better now. :D

So I finally did some homework! Heh. I spent a couple hours studying for Networks, thankfully. I may even do some more tonight. It just feels wrong studying on vacation, but that's what you gotta do when professors give tests right after the break.

Also, I mucked about with HL2 Beta/Leak thinger at work. It's the whoa. I'm totally impressed, and I can't wait for it to actually come out so I can buy it! The Beta is super buggy and not really good for anything other than mucking about, but it serves as a great tech demo. There's lots of developer stuff still lying about too, so you can make it do some neat tricks. It's interface is almost identical to that of the Steam system for CS 1.6, it's almost like it was a test bed for the interface part of it. A cool idea, it seems.

With Half Life 2 pushed back to 2004, possibly, there may no be any good Christmas games, except Max Payne 2, which is due out this month. I'll just have to keep working hard in school until Doom3 and HL2.

Oh yea, Kill Bill and Chinese food on Saturday with gungho, it'll be a big nerd party! :D

Nothing interesting happening at work today. A little hypocrisy from my boss, he's on the demo playing the stolen beta copy of Half Life 2, then he yells at me for looking at today's anime releases. Not downloading, mind you, just reading what's out today. Grr.

I may go see Kill Bill early tonight with some guys from work.

I kind of hoped for Kakashi, but split got him. I guess Sasuke's about right, as seriously as you can take those silly quizzes. I'm sure sung will get Chouji though. Discuss!

I'd just like to say that if we, NCSU, don't beat UConn today, then I'm transferring to UNC, where they at least have an excuse for a shitty football team. Yes sung, you heard correctly. That doesn't mean I'll like it though. :D

EDIT: There's only a few things I can't stand at work, and I'm very tolerant of most idiocy. I really despise when people continue their personal cell phone conversation while trying to buy stuff or asking me things. Pick one or the other, thanks. Grr.

Much ownage was had at the spacecadets/gungho reunion! Stuffed ourselves and acted the fool at Royal China, then went to see Kill Bill. Which was great, even the second time, and I picked up some stuff I missed the first time. I'll refrain from details, so I don't spoil it for anyone who's not seen it yet. But it's a great movie, and I enjoyed it. Then we trucked back to Jacky's place at State, and watched some TV. There was some goofy Frat thing on MTV, I guess. It was amusing for a while, a good reminder why Frats are dumb. Got home about 2 am, good times. I'll put the pics in my gallery when I get them from Jacky.

As for today, I have my Networks exam on Tuesday, so I gotta disappear and nerd it up. Hopefully I'll have time for some scrims, we need a little more prep for the match on Tuesday, too.

Oh yea, and people who cheer at the screen during a movie should be shot. Clapping during the credits is tolerable, as you're not really interrupting anything. That is all.

My cable has been freaking out all day, so I've been confined to dialup. I wasn't able to scrim tonight, unfortunately. I really hope it gets fixed by tomorrow, since we've got our nuke match. Time Warner has been getting a lot less reliable lately, I don't know what's wrong. Unfortunately, I don't have any options out here, too far from the CO for DSL. Oh well, at least outages force me to do something productive. Or at least fool myself into thinking I am. I think I'm just doomed to dialup today, the DSL at work was broken, too.

Torry Holt from NC State is kicking ass with the Rams tonight. Woo!

After managing to wrangle my cable back into a working state just before the match, we pulled out a 14-10 win on nuke tonight. It was super close, we won both pistol rounds, and the first couple on both sides. Then daL took a couple more to draw it even at 6-6 on T side. Again, we won the pistol round on CT side, then the giveaways, then daL picked up a couple. The next to last round, everyone saved and I bought a colt with no ammo. We rushed up the ramp side and into T spawn, where I killed 3 waiting with rifles, then the two left with AWPs snuck around until one peeked out of radio room and I just sprayed their pants off.

In other news, I upped some choice shots from Jacky's fall break pictures and I think I didn't fail my Networking exam. I really can't make any other predictions other than that. This professor seems to be one of those sadistic jerks that gives you ludicrously hard homeworks, then grades them on an insanely difficult criteria, only to give you a relatively docile exam with problems absolutely nothing like what's in the homeworks. And while I appreciate the effort to overprepare students' expectations, it still makes it hard to decipher what's actually expected. I hear he curves the final grades really nicely, too.

Still got that pesky cough hanging on. It just won't go away. It's not real bad, it just annoys me all day.

Anyhow, we won last night. The lots of practice we did worked out well.
